Myrtle Beach is embarking on a significant rebranding effort, introducing a new logo to modernize its image while retaining the historic city seal established in 1976.
According to Meredith Denari, the city's Director of Communications and Creative Services, the forthcoming logo will serve as the city's branding emblem, whereas the traditional seal will continue to be used for formal documents and official purposes.
Denari emphasized, "This new logo is going to be a representation of who we are and who we are moving forward." The design process is currently underway, with no final version yet determined.
The city initiated a bidding process for the branding project, notifying eight local vendors. Despite receiving 20 responses, none were from local companies. The selected agency brings experience in municipal branding, ensuring a professional approach to the city's rebranding efforts.
Community involvement is a key component of this initiative. A survey will be distributed to gather public input, allowing residents to share their perspectives on the new logo. Some community members have expressed a desire for the logo to reflect the city's tropical ambiance while also highlighting areas like the Arts and Innovation District and Coastal Carolina University.
This rebranding aligns with Myrtle Beach's ongoing efforts to revitalize its downtown area. The Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance has been actively seeking community feedback on various projects, including the development of the Arts and Innovation District. Public meetings have been held to discuss street design, architectural themes, and public art, ensuring that the city's growth reflects the desires of its residents.
As Myrtle Beach continues to evolve, the introduction of a new logo symbolizes a commitment to progress while honoring the city's rich history and community values. |
