The sun is setting on another vibrant summer in Myrtle Beach, but there's still time to make the most of the season this Labor Day weekend.

 

For both Grand Strand locals and visitors, a lineup of free events offers the perfect way to enjoy the long weekend.

 

Here are some must-attend Labor Day events in the Myrtle Beach area:

 

Gullah Geechee Heritage Festival

 

Dates: Friday, August 29 – Sunday, August 31

 

Location: Town of Atlantic Beach, SC 29582

 

Celebrate the rich culture and history of the Gullah Geechee people at this free festival in Atlantic Beach.

 

Enjoy a parade, fun run, cook-off competition, storytelling, live musical performances, games, vendors, and more.

 

While most festivities occur on Saturday, additional events like seminars and a silent auction are scheduled for Friday and Sunday.

 

Waves of Praise Gospel Fest

 

Dates: Friday, August 29 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, August 30 at 4 p.m.

 

Location: 812 N. Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

 

This free festival brings two days of uplifting gospel music to downtown Myrtle Beach's Burroughs and Chapin Pavilion Place.

 

Live performers include Anthony Brown, The Walls Group, Tim Rogers, and more.

 

Attendees can bring lawn chairs and clear bags; however, outside food and coolers are prohibited.

 

Hot Summer Nights Free Concert

 

Date: Friday, August 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.

 

Location: 1000 N. Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

 

The final installment of Myrtle Beach's free Hot Summer Nights concert series wraps up Friday night at Plyler Park.

 

Guests can bring lawn chairs and enjoy a live performance by Wilmington-based band Echoes of Heroes.

 

Broadway at the Beach Labor Day Weekend Entertainment and Fireworks Extravaganza

 

Dates: Friday, August 29 from 7 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, August 30 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Sunday, August 31 from 6 to 10 p.m.

 

Location: 1325 Celebrity Circle, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

 

Broadway at the Beach is celebrating Labor Day weekend with stilt walkers, fire dancing, juggling, character meet-and-greets, vocal performances, and a variety show.

 

The festivities will culminate with a fireworks extravaganza over Lake Broadway on Sunday at 10 p.m.

 

Barefoot Landing Labor Day Entertainment and Fireworks

 

Dates: Friday, August 29; Saturday, August 30; and Sunday, August 31 from 7 to 10 p.m.

 

Location: 4898 Highway 17 S., North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582

 

Barefoot Landing will host free live musical performances and a fireworks show for Labor Day weekend.

 

Friday will feature Miracle Max and the Pet Monsters, Saturday will showcase Painted Man, and on Sunday night, McKinney and Co. will perform before a 10 p.m. fireworks show over the lake.

 

Surfside Beach End of Summer Fireworks Festival

 

Date: Sunday, August 31 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

 

Location: 11 Ocean Blvd. S., Surfside Beach, SC 29575

 

To celebrate the end of summer, Surfside Beach is launching fireworks at the town's fishing pier.

 

Visitors can also enjoy a hula show, live music, arts and craft vendors, festival food, giveaways, and a kids' zone complete with foam, face painting, and bounce houses.

 

The pier parking lot will be closed, but free shuttle service will be available at other lots to and from the festival.
