Myrtle Beach Golf Community Raises $20,000 for Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

Charity Auction Supports Western North Carolina's Golf and Hospitality Workers

Exclusive

Play Golf Myrtle Beach and Golf Tourism Solutions (GTS) members have successfully raised $20,000 to aid victims of Hurricane Helene in the western North Carolina golf and hospitality industries.

The funds were generated through a charity auction that concluded on June 1, featuring over 60 donated experiences, including golf rounds and beachfront vacations.

Proceeds will benefit the Carolinas GCSA Hurricane Disaster Relief Fund, the NC Hospitality Workers Relief Fund, and the National Golf Course Owners Association.

Hurricane Helene struck western North Carolina last year, causing significant damage to communities and industries.

According to state reports, there have been 108 verified storm-related fatalities as of June 17, 2025.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reported that nearly 13,000 households in the region participated in its Transitional Sheltering Assistance program, which provided temporary housing for those displaced by the storm.

The Myrtle Beach golf community's efforts underscore a broader trend of support within the industry.

For instance, the Pine Gate Renewables Community Impact Fund has announced a charity golf tournament scheduled for September 24-25, 2025, at the historic Grove Park Inn golf course in Asheville, North Carolina.

Proceeds from this event will also support non-profits across Western North Carolina as part of ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.

Additionally, the Carolinas PGA raised $76,000 during the 2024 Club Car CPGA Pro-Official Championship to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts, with funds split between the Red Cross and the PGA Disaster Relief Fund.

These initiatives highlight the golf community's commitment to aiding those affected by natural disasters and fostering resilience within the industry.
